A: Yes, we do not make it mandatory that you buy in full or half yard pieces. Unlike other online fabric stores, we will cut your fabric to the yardage you've requested. However, to order fractional yardage you must use the decimal system. In the quantity box you will type 1.25 to purchase 1 1/4 yards of fabric. Conversion Chart: 1/8= .125, 1/4= .25, 3/8= .375, 1/2= .50, 5/8= .625, 3/4= .75, 7/8= .875. Please note that the computer can not compute yardage less than a full yard, but you can leave us a note in the Customer Notes section of the checkout if you would like less than a full yard (we will cut your requested quantity and credit you the difference).
Q: Are the colors of the fabrics on my monitor accurate?
A: We have found that in some cases our fabrics colors are distorted in hue, brightness, or color from one monitor to another. We attempt to portray our fabrics in a correct color way. But, we can not guarantee that the color you are viewing will be the same shade you receive. The only way to truly get an accurate idea of color and design will be through ordering a swatch. This is more the case with solids than prints or multi-colored fabrics.
CUSTOMS AND INTERNATIONAL ORDERS: Vogue Fabrics will not be held responsible for delayed arrival of Canadian and International orders. The US Postal Service dispatches your parcel very quickly to the nearest outbound customs facility, but after it leaves the USA's border, we have no control over how long it takes to arrive at your door. We have little if any tracking information until the parcel has been delivered and the information is relayed by your country's postal service back to the USA. Under no circumstances will we re-ship an order unless the parcel can be filed as lost or damaged according to your country's postal regulations. In that case, we will file an insurance claim on the parcel, and the items can be re-shipped when the claim is paid.
Q: Can I order wholesale bolts, even though I'm not a business?
A: Yes, we allow anyone to order from our Wholesale Fabrics listed on our website. Although if you are buying from us in person at the warehouse you will need a business license/ resellers certificate. Please note - some wholesale orders may take 2-3 weeks to fill if the item is not in stock at our warehouse. Please call first to check availability if you are in a rush 800-433-44313 weekdays 9:00-5:00 central time.
Q: If I order Next Day Air, will you ship it out that same day?
A: If your item is in stock and we are able to process your order early enough in the day, we make every attempt to ship the same day for next Day and 2-Day Air packages. This is not a guarantee. Since we use 2 different fulfillment centers, and our package pick-up comes fairly early, we ask that you please call 800-433-4313 to verify whether the item you want is in-stock and whether we can get it out that same day. Otherwise, the item will ship out the next business day. Any orders shipping out on Friday with Next Day Air will be received by the customer on Monday. Any orders received over the weekend for Next Day Air or any UPS method will go out on Monday if they are in stock.
Q: Can I pick up an online order in the store and not pay shipping?
A: Yes, see link for details.Q: How quickly do your cut and ship orders?
A: We make every attempt to cut and ship within 2-4 business days from receiving the order. More than likely we are able to ship within 1 to 2 days. Since some of our items will be cut at our retail stores and some will be cut at our warehouse, additional in-store transit time may be necessary. If you need your order by a certain date or would like more personalized follow-up, please indicate your request in the Customer Notes section of the check-out. If you have made a special request for us, and we are out of an item, we will contact you to discuss how you would like us to proceed with your order. Also, due to wholesale demands and store special orders we occasionally are out of stock on a color. If this is the case your order may be delayed until we are restocked from our suppliers. Please call us for available quantity if you are in a rush (see preceding entry). If you have provided an email address, you will receive email notification when you package is shipped out along with a tracking confirmation number. As for ground shipping delivery times stated during checkout, they are approximate and are not guaranteed. Our shippers only guarantee expedited shipments. Shipping is outside the realm of our control. We are not responsible for delays in shipping due to our shipping company, weekends, or holidays.
Q: Are the delivery times posted during checkout "guaranteed" for USPS or UPS?
A: We cannot guarantee delivery by a specific date. These delivery dates are estimates based on the most current information available. Environmental conditions, war, acts of god and a variety of circumstances can exist to make this unrealistic. If your order is needed on an exact date please choose an express shipping method or note the requirement when your order is placed (in the order notes section or by phone) and we will make every effort to deliver your order on the date you request.
A: All computer screens are different. You should be able to view our whole site from your screen, but some people may have to scroll over to the right.
Q: I created a log-in name and password when I first ordered, but now I am having trouble whenever I check out. Why won't it remember me?
A: After you first create a web-store ID and password, you can log-in when you first get to our site to avoid any delay or tie-ups in the check out. There is a log-in "button" near the top right corner of the home page. If you continue to have problems, please call 847-864-9600 and ask for Sue or Charlotte for help.
Q: The web-site is not accepting my credit card. Why not?
A: Please do not use slashes, dashes or dots in between the numbers. Just the digits. Please make sure that the address you have entered in the Address 1 field begins with a street number (or PO box) that is the billing address of the credit card. The credit card processor looks to verify the numeric address for authenticity. If you have put a business name or college name in Address 1 and the street address in Address 2, you will want to switch those around.
Q: I have a Gift Certificate PIN number. Where do I enter this?
A: During checkout, you can select the payment method of "Gift Certificate" and type in your PIN number. You can also try entering it into the box provided at the bottom of the View Cart page, and then pay any remaining balance with a separate method as you proceed.
Q: How do I earn Bonus Points? What do I do with them?
A: Currently, Bonus Points are given when you subscribe to one of our Swatch Clubs. We may also issue Bonus Points to frequent customers who would prefer the Bonus Points to a different kind of refund when an item has been sold out or an order has been changed leaving a balance in the customer's favor. You can trade in your Bonus Points for special offers on our site, or convert the Bonus Points into an electronic Gift Certificate to be used as payment on a purchase or emailed to a friend for their use on our site. Ten Bonus Points equal $1.
A: When you click into a fabric or trim you will see some "buttons" next to the Quantity field. These buttons say "Add To Cart", "Add To Wish List" and "Request a Swatch." When you click on the last one, a "swatch" of that item is put into your cart for you with all the information that we will need. Most fabrics can be swatched. Some fabrics offer color cards. Most trims can also be swatched. Laces can not be swatched and you will not see that option on the product page. Swatches are sent our in the regular mail, regardless of the option you choose from the shipping menu, since we are only charging $1.00 per swatch. This fee is a handling fee. No additional postage will be charged. Swatches are not returnable nor refundable.
Q: I am a member of "Vogue Fabrics By Mail". How do I use my Swatch Set?
A: Inside every issue you will find informative text, large scans of the prints, patterns from independent designers, and more. Open your Swatch Set to its fullest size to view everything. Most of our members keep their Swatch Sets for quite a while and quickly flip through them for reference when coordinating, or to place an order from a previous issue. You can use the internet site www.VogueFabricsStore.com as a companion to the swatch sets; to place a current order, to check availability of fabrics from past issues, or to order notions and other fabrics not shown in the swatch sets
One of the benefits to the swatch set, which we now also use on the web-store, is the list of vital information for each fabric: name, content, care, width, price, suggested lining, and repeat when necessary. More importantly, you'll feel the fabric, recognize how it will drape and wear. You?ll find the information for linings we offer on the back page of each issue, you can also select notions, interfacing, and other item you may need or want. We are also capable of taking special requests, although that may delay your order by a couple days.
Q: How long are the fabrics available?
A: There is no easy answer. Some fabrics sell more rapidly than others. Some fabrics are reorderable, or we had more yardage to start. When a new issue arrives at you door, the fabrics we did not sell out from the previous Swatch Set are still kept on hold for your orders, however, they are released from "Membership Only" status and added to the hundreds of fabrics we have on our E-Commerce site www.VogueFabricsStore.com. And they are then available to Non-Vogue-By-Mail members. Once you receive your catalog, take advantage of quick order fulfillment by calling the "Swatch Line" 1-800-433-4313 weekdays 9:00-5:00 Central, or online anytime at www.VogueFabricsStore.com.
Q: Can I get additional personal assistance?
A: We encourage you to go beyond the Catalog Swatch Set, let Vogue Fabrics become your local fabric store. Visit us online at www.voguefabricsstore.com, we have additional fabric collections to view, or call the stores directly. We would like to serve your sewing needs completely. However, for us to help you in personalized swatching you must be specific. All the vital information must be specific; calling to request a "blue polyester" is too basic. Our inventory contains over a half a million yards of fabric and for us to send swatches of all the light blue polyester chiffon prints we have in stock to every customer who requested them would be too difficult. A typical request that we can process would be a light blue polyester chiffon print that has a small red or fuchsia floral design on it. We can also let you know what we do have in stock in a certain material, plus its price and width.
Q: Will I find the Catalog fabrics in your stores?
A: More than likely the answer is no. Fabrics for the Swatch Set are specifically chosen for their content, quality, color, price, and how well they work with the other fabrics in the collection. The fabrics for "Vogue By Mail" are the best of the best. We spend months creating our catalog until it is perfect. Some of the fabrics we originally choose for the catalog are replaced by better ones, and those are sent to the stores. But the ones that make the "completed page" phase of the catalog are held and only sold through the Swatch Set. But, once a fabric is "sold out" or "released for circulation", it is sent to the stores as one of the tens of thousands of fabrics in one of our fashion fabric collections.
Q: How do I make a return?
A: If we have made an error with your order, please call our toll-free "Swatch-Line" 1-800-433-4313, and one of our representatives will assist you. We know how hard it is to find high quality fashion fabrics, so we strive to present a "user-friendly" way to purchase fabrics and notions by mail or internet. We want you to be happy with our service, and we will attempt to accommodate you if we are able to. If you are returning the fabric because you have changed your mind or the color is wrong, you will have to pay for the return shipping. We do provide swatches so you can color match and check the quality and weave of the fabric before you make your purchase.
We guarantee that our fabrics will be 1st quality, we do not sell seconds. The swatches in our Vogue Fabrics By Mail Swatch Sets are generously cut and stapled to the page in an attempt to let our members feel the hand of each fabric, and our scans and photos on-line are accompanied with descriptive text to help you make a well informed choice. If you have a question about a fabric or pattern, please contact us before you make your purchase. We work right here with the fabrics, so we can provide helpful answers to questions on color, weight, patten yardage requirements, etc...
See Return Policy for more information.
Q: Do you have an actual store?
A: Yes, we have one of the finest and largest fabric stores in the country. We have been in business since 1945. We currently have retail stores in Evanston, Chicago, and Lansing, Illinois. There are links on the home page with directions, hours, and information on each store. Our focus has been and will always continue to be the home sewer. We are a department store of fabrics and a sewer's heaven. On a daily basis, casual sewers, designers, and groups from schools and sewing clubs from all over the Midwest visit our store. If you live far from us, and are planning a trip to the Chicagoland area, be sure to order a "Visitor's Packet" from this web-site. See our "About Us" link on the home page for our history. Below is a brief and incomplete list of some of the items Vogue Fabrics carries in our stores. If you see something below that is not on www.voguefabricsstore.com, please contact us and we will be happy to assist you through our retail stores.
Q:What makes Vogue Fabrics different from other online fabric stores?
1] We offer coordinates (when you click on a fabric, there are usually other coordinating fabrics, or cool related items, featured at the bottom. This helps those who love to be well put together, but do not have time to click through a whole site and guess as to the color)
2] We offer two swatch clubs, which allow members to receive over 500 samples per year for just $39.99. These fabrics are available to members on the site (although the new issues of Vogue Fabrics By Mail only have minimal information to create a "members only" shopping experience for the first two months of the issue).
3] We offer fabrics at wholesale to the public, which is very helpful to those who only need a bolt of an item. Other sites offer wholesale, but you either must register with your business, or you have to wait for supplier to order the product first. Since we have a warehouse of our own, we usually have these items in stock for quick turnaround.
4] We offer fractional quantities in our online store. Not everyone does this.
5] We offer "insane deals" such as 100 gross (14,000) buttons for $20, and 288 yards of cluny lace for $7. We are constantly putting up new and exciting offers that make our customers say, "How does Vogue Fabrics do that?"
6] We provide a link to our informational local store site, www.myvoguefabrics.com, providing you with in-store coupons, sales events, sewing class listings, and much more, as well as travel information to all of our locations.
7] We offer custom services, such as covered buttons and scissor sharpening at our store, so we also promote these on-line, which has proven helpful to many sewing enthusiasts who have trouble such services in their area.
8] People can register for our classes on-line. This is helpful and informative. We draw sewing enthusiasts from several states for our classes, such as Corsetry, Clone Yourself (featured in Threads and Vogue Pattern Magazine), Sandra Betzina, Peggy Sagers from Silhouette Patterns, Slipcover America and much more.
9] We offer nitch items, such as corset supplies, tailoring supplies (which will be growning), Swarovski rhinestones and czec crystal banding, leather pelts with the accessories (not just the pelts), hard to find specialty items (such as the anti-tarnish silver shield cloth and the silver polishing cloth), plus ribbons and trims and even notions you won't find on other sites. People count on us to carry something out of the norm, as well as basics.
More Information:
We offer samples of our fabrics for $1.00 per swatch.
We offer back issues of Vogue Fabrics By Mail (54 swatches inside) for just $2.
A trial issue of VFBM for $5.
A year of VFBM is $30 with a $10 merchandise credit on the first purchase.
No swatches for laces or trims. These you can order 1/8 yard.
10] We are nice people and still consider ourselves a Mom and Pop fabric store.
Q: What else should I know about Vogue Fabrics? A: Generally orders are cut and shipped within 2 business days when all products are in-stock. If an item is backordered, we will make every attempt to contact you to inform you of the delay. We have order fulfillment sites in our warehouse and in our flagship store.
We have a wholesale warehouse which also is home to our swatch clubs. We have three retail stores in the Chicago area, including our flagship store in Evanston that is a department store set up (Remnants, Bargain Room, Designer Room, Bridal Boutique, Notions & Trimmings, Button Boutique, Sewing Machines, Upholstery and Drapery. We also have a classroom in Evanston that serves as a community center for local sewing groups, non-profit organizations doing sewing projects, scout troops earning sewing badges and more!
