Satin coutil not soft and drapey like dress satin. It's fairly stiff and very tightly woven to keep its shape without stretching out. This is used primarily for corset making, and is sometimes called corseting. A color card of all of our coutil options is available. This is "true" coutil manufactured specifically for corset making. Coutil is a fabric that has been designed specifically for building corsets. It is high in cotton content, tightly woven to inhibit penetration of bones/stays and is not inclined to stretch. It has a smooth finish and is comfortable when worn close to the skin though the wearing of a chemise or modern type undershirt is always recommended.
