Wool Suiting Fabric

Made in Italy by Bonnotto comes this dark wine, virgin wool blend suiting we call Homage Chianti. We purchased it as designer deadstock from a New York fashion house when they were done cutting their spring line, so the price is far less than what you would pay for regular order goods. Although it has 2% spandex, there is very little stretch to it.

Structure Suiting is an all-wool beauty that begs to be tailored into office attire, as well as casual separates and a fall jacket. We are not always able to find wool suiting in the quantity we need for inclusion in our catalog, but we were fortunate to receive three wool suitings for this Fall 2023 issue. Don’t think of “suiting” as being a business suit fabric exclusively - these woolens are ideal for fashionable wardrobe options whenever a medium-weight woven is needed.

Tropical wools can be worn all year due to their lighter weight and breathability. Nature Pinstripe’s neutral tones add sophistication to any wardrobe. Sew a long pinstripe skirt or slacks to pair with a ruched knit top from the taupe modal knit, then toss on a cardigan made from the Baroque knit and you will have a super sharp ensemble for work and for dinner with friends. Look at Satellite Sharp and what do you see? Sport coat? Pencil skirt? Slacks and a vest? Tailor them all with this wonderful woven woolen. Every three inches there is a very subtle green thread in the weft, and a very faint blue thread in the warp.

Hope Classique is a thick, worsted wool flannel with a subtle herringbone design, ideal for lightweight coats. We have a very limited quantity of this wool, so we chose to conserve yardage and not make thousands of swatches. But there are swatches availalbe for those who would like to buy this fabric. We show it here in Dana Marie's Cozy Asymmetry jacket using VF236-47 Hope Luxe as the contrast collar.

Astro Lana is a lovely Italian worsted wool flannel suiting, ideal for tailoring menswear and women's suit separates.  We show it here as Closet Core's Mitchell Trousers.  Becasue the fibers have been worsted, the fabric is more wrinkle-resistant than a non-worsted fiber, and this twisting of the threads also creates a soft hand.
