Cicada Protection - Nettings
Protect your plants from Cicadas - Wrap them in netting!
Cicadas can harm young trees when female cicadas lay their eggs in the tree’s new growth. If you have a young tree, you can loosely wrap the branches with cheesecloth or netting to keep the female from laying her eggs. You do not need to wrap larger trees, as the cicadas will only harm the newer branches in a natural pruning which can promote new fruits or growth the next year. Wrap smaller or ornamental trees and shrubs with craft netting, Illusion or cheesecloth from the base to the top so the entire plant is covered. Read more in our blog.
