Bump Cloth - or Silence Cloth.  In Europe, this double-napped fabric has been used as an interlining for lightweight silk and taffeta drapes when insulation and a sound barrier are needed.  It is a thick fabric, so this does add volume and it will not take pleating well.  In the United States, our clients use this as a protective barrier between table cloths and dining room tables.  It provides a soft surface so your plates don't clank around, and your stemware is cushioned, especially during a spill.  Also protects wood tables from dings and scratches from serving platters.

This is not a felt.  Needs to be finished.  Super soft hand.  Double-woven.
