This classic lightweight cotton textile was first created on hand looms in Switzerland in 1750. Ever since, “Dotted Swiss” has maintained a presence on the fashion scene as summer dresses, blouses, aprons, curtains, bedspreads, wedding apparel & baby clothes. Its diminutive surface ornamentation is woven (not printed or flocked) onto its batiste ground. Fresh & youthful garments can be yours when you choose this timeless treasure! Go a little wild by wearing a Glen plaid suiting (see related items) with a blouse sewn from Parallel Zebra silk georgette print.  The repeat is so large, you may even be tempted to make a long scarf  that will trail down your back and flutter while you walk.  In fact, if you wear shalwar kameez, the silk would be a fantastic dupatta to go over the tunic top sewn from Parallel Ash and leggings constructed from Parallel Graphite.

We were thrilled when the fabric on page 3 became available from Sevenberry in Japan.  Yoga Stripe is a classic menswear cotton shirting of high quality.  Play with it a bit.  Cut a front shirt panel on the bias, or construct a cool handkerchief skirt.  The dark background is midnight, so it is a little bluer than black and more black than navy.

Chá Stripe was manufactured in Itlay by the Albini Group, a company known for their exquisite fabrics.  This handsome stripe is all cotton, semi-sheer, and incredibly soft to the touch.  The stripes run horizontal, but you can cut your pattern the European way across the grain to orient the stripes as vertical.  Unusually wide for a cross-woven cotton, at 60” you won’t need to order as much as you would with most of our other woven cottons.

Shay Stripe is a white cotton broadcloth with maroon and rose cords woven into the weft. These cords provide subtle texture, and a sophisticated playfulness.  At 60” wide, you can lay your pattern piece out across the grain so the stripes run vertical instead of horizontal if you prefer. Either way you cut it, we want you to pair it with Chay Herringbone (VF213-31), a rose stretch-woven cotton bottom-weight.

This handsome grey Oxford cloth comes to us from the fashion division at Robert Kaufman.  It is lighter weight than most Oxford cloth we come across, but it still has the traditional styling with a white warp thread and colored weft, in this case black.  Construct a classic shirt from Angel Ash to wear all year long.
