If you are one of the Fitnice Sewing Sisters who jumped on the chance to order from our Classic Ponte Di Roma collection before it was publicly released, you will recognize Luthier Indigo as one of the options (called Wedgewood in the PDR collection). The fiber content of this fabric is the same as the Arietta from Robert Kaufman, and it has a very similar feel and all-way stretch, but this is not a color from Kaufman. This firm ponte is ideal for creating mix-and-match garments like a knit jacket and pants, plus a dress and cardigan.

We recently bought a collection of Lyocell prints from a fashion designer who specializes in winter ski wear with an Aloha vibe. Luthier Intrigue is a showstopping stretch denim printed in Korea featuring mottled blue on one side and a 21” border of a wildcat, flowers, and animal spots on the other.  The stretch runs along the grain, which is exactly what you want when cutting out your pattern, allowing the stretch to wrap around you. We recommend sewing a long jacket, a border print dress or overalls, or sew border print jeans. Sew the off-cuts into matching messenger bag.

Our supplier for the printed scuba knits has come through again with Extant Primavera. Buff, pink and yellow flowers accented by green leaves are tossed against a rich black background.  Make a statement piece that stands on its own, or pair it with the two solids on the next page to wear as separates. This stable knit has plenty of stretch to go across the body.

We found two knit fabrics that pick up on the buff and the green in the floral scuba knit print, VF231-19.  Extant Buff comes from our stock collection of 10 oz cotton jersey knits, while Extant Modal (VF231-21) is a lovely all-way stretch knit in leaf green. Extant Buff is a medium weight cotton jersey knit with full body and good stretch, ideal for sewing nicer fashion t-shirts, knit tops, and yoga pants.

Made in Italy by Bonnotto comes this dark wine, virgin wool blend suiting we call Homage Chianti. We purchased it as designer deadstock from a New York fashion house when they were done cutting their spring line, so the price is far less than what you would pay for regular order goods. Although it has 2% spandex, there is very little stretch to it.
